GENERAL INFORMATION

Eligibility:
Any player between the ages of 9 and 18 is eligible to play AAU/YBOA basketball. A player's age determines eligibility and restrictions.

The following criteria is used to determine age level:

Girls - age as of January 1st
Boys - age as of September 1st, birth date, and grade.

*Players with advanced skills have the option of playing at a higher level.

Teams:
Girls and boys teams are selected in the following age divisions: 10-Under, 11-Under, 12-Under, 13-Under, 14-Under, 15-Under, 16-Under and 18-Under. Typically there are three levels of competition: Advanced, Intermediate and Developmental.

Tournament Schedule/Location:
Most teams will enter between 5 -8 tournaments over the course of the year. The coach will determine the appropriate number and location of tournaments after discussions with players' and parents. Some teams may choose to enter additional tournaments as the season progresses.
While held across the country, the majority of tournaments our teams enter are located within a two-hour drive. During the year teams may elect to enter tournaments that would require an overnight stay (this is typically decided by the coach, players and parents while selecting tournaments for the season). Teams qualifying for National Championships would be required to spend a minimum of one week in locations such as Orlando, Florida or other select locations throughout the USA.

Practices:
Practice times and locations are typically determined by the coaches and are usually predicated by the composition of players on that team. Most teams will conduct practices twice a week for approximately 1 _ to 2 hours. Each coach will institute his or her own ground rules for attendance and practice format.

Playing time:
Our policy is to distribute playing time as equitably as possible. Over the course of a tournament each player will be afforded the opportunity to play his or her fair share of time.

Coaching Staff:
All of our Hurricanes coaches are dedicated accomplished and experienced individuals who have demonstrated a proven commitment to the Hurricanes and its mission statement. Coaches selected for a particular age group have extensive experience at that level of play.
